The answer for the computer addict with a budget

bymurdre05 Aug 22, 2003
13 Helpfuls 14 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Crisp and clear, simple and space-saving design
Cons SLIGHT ghosting in games, if any at all
Recommended it? Yes

I must confess that I spend much more time staring at the computer screen every day than I should. After staring at a CRT (a poor one, at that) for extended periods of time, I would begin to feel a slight strain on my eyes. When it came time to purchase a new computer, I decided to go with a... Dell's UltraSharp TFT's Have Raised The Bar!

byksm1010 Jul 11, 2003

Pros Very clear, large, and stylish. Easy on the eyes.
Cons Expensive.
Recommended it? Yes

Just like many people in the world today, I am an avid computer user. So much so that I spend most of any given day in front of a computer monitor. By spending so much time in front of a monitor, I made myself vulnerable to eye strain and other facial discomforts. Thus I was left with two choices,... Read full review »

Hey Good Lookin'...

Pros Large, good price, great performance, bright, no perceived problems.
Cons Larger footprint, may want to wait for newer technology.
Recommended it? Yes

The Dell 1800FP has gotten rave reviews at several computer enthusiast sites, and that's what prompted me to buy one. And now I'm going to prompt the rest of the world to seriously consider this beauty of a monitor.

On paper, the 1800FP isn't all that impressive. In fact, compared to the... Read full review »

Good value for a large display w/ DVI

byjblakus Mar 2, 2004
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros A quality display with DVI. Clear, crisp images and text. An overall good value
Cons No height adjustment. Image quality decreases as resolution is decreased. (same for most...
Recommended it? Yes

I have owned this monitor for several months. It has performed better than expected. Paid $432 from Dell Online. It puts my old 17" NEC flat CRT to shame for image and text quality. The display is very easy on the eyes. Color saturation is uniform with no apparent hot or cold spots. The panel is... Read full review »

What a great decision I made!

Pros Color is wonderful! Size is perfect and cost was good. Refurb. Well worth it.
Cons None really. It is what it is.
Recommended it? Yes

I love this monitor. I've been working with CRTs forever and I decided with my new machine I would purchase a digital flat panel. I bought this Dell (UltraSharp) from their refurb monitors and it great! The colors are vibrant, the blacks are very good, and text isn't to bad if you are in 1280x1024... Read full review »

Excellent Value

Pros Bright, sharp screen. No dead pixels, no ghosting. Great bang for the buck.
Cons None.
Recommended it? Yes

This is a nearly perfect LCD. It is basic, with only DVI and analog inputs, but really what else do you need? There are no dead pixels on my monitor. Colors are bright, text is sharp, there is no ghosting in games. The buttons on front are small but responsive. I run mine off a Radeon 9800 Pro via... Read full review »

1800FP UltraSharp Dell Flat Panel - Good FP

Pros Needs little space. Light weight.
Cons Resolution only goes to 1280x1024.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this flat panel a few months ago brand new on Ebay and it functions great. Drivers installed no problem. I am using the analog connection and it works fine. I have tried the digital connection with a colleague's panel and it functioned no problems. I haven't been much of a gamer so I can't... Read full review »

A great monitor for all around use

byebayguy Feb 19, 2004
3 Helpfuls 4 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Very sharp and vivid images and text. No dead pixels
Cons A little ghosting when scrolling text or playing action games.
Recommended it? Yes

I have been reading LCD monitor reviews for months and even when a monitor was very highly rated, I would find that I was disappointed when I actually got to see one first-hand. Either it was too dull, or too fuzzy (and yes they were set at the native resolution), or lacking in color. Then one day... Read full review »

Excellent Images

Pros Bright, clean crisp images with great color.
Cons Black levels good, but not as good as CRT.
Recommended it? Yes

Usage includes text and graphics.

Bright, clean, crisp, images using DVI input and recommended 1280x1024 resolution. Lower resolutions are available but are definitely not as sharp. Not sure if this is due to display or graphics card.

No distortion. Colors are vibrant. Flesh... Read full review »

Perhaps at a bargain price but otherwise look elsewhere

bybevross Jan 17, 2004
3 Helpfuls 4 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Pretty good pictures, large size allows ease working with multiple windows
Cons Not as sharp an image as can be had
Recommended it? No

I wrote a review of a Samsung 172T, which is dual input (analog, digital) as this one is. I said there that I preferred the Samsung for clarity of images. The slightly larger size of the Dell, however, allows for greater ease in working with multiple windows. I'd recommend this monitor only if it... Read full review »
